On 11 to 13 April 2025, Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO supported Lenggong District Council in the organising of the Aspiring Lenggong UNESCO Global Geopark International Seminar 2025, in Lenggong, Perak, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Malaysia. This seminar aims to explore the opportunities and challenges in recognising the Lenggong Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp), as well as to share knowledge on the importance of geoparks in the preservation and conservation of natural and cultural heritage.

With the theme “Where Earth’s and Human History Intertwine,” the seminar brought together experts, stakeholders, and community leaders to chart the path of Lenggong Geopark toward achieving UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp) status. This seminar served as a platform for dialogue on the opportunities and challenges of this recognition process.

Part of the main outcome of the seminar was the MoU signings involving strategic collaborations between Lenggong Geopark and Indonesia Geopark Network, Vietnam Geopark Network and the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark from Thailand.
